The Kids - Part Two

Well the kids began getting more and more adventurous, more and more demanding.
Izzie demanding milk

The main two I had to supplement were Izzie and Charlie, they were by far the weaker links of the bunch and feeding time could be quite vicious with kittens batting at each other and pushing each other off nipples. Charlie was the smallest weighing only 165 grams when I got him (For comparison the highest was Freddy at 270 grams).

He was a bright little guy and quickly learned how to drink milk from a spoon. Izzie was the second smallest and took a while longer to understand milk meant good things. I will always remember the smell of the kitten milk formula whenever I had to mix it or heat it up, that stuff is nasty.

When the kittens began moving around more cleaning the cage became quite an interesting and time consuming job. They were curious about what a dustpan and shovel were for and wiping surfaces down tended to have anywhere from one to five kittens bouncing on your fingers and arms.

As a method of keeping them contained an old laundry basket offered temporary relief until they learned climbing was a great sport.

Every week on Tuesdays and Fridays the kittens and mother were packed up and taken back to the animal shelter for a check over to see how they were doing. Thankfully it was always good news for the kits and they all gained much more than they ever lost.

Updated Pictures

Annie with her disapproving face on

Beatrice always getting orange patches coming out,
cant see here but her other back leg has a ginger sleeve
Curious little Charlie still growing into those big ears
Dianna being dramatically ratty
Eddie stopped for a second
Freddy not being cooperative for a picture.
George showing him how it's done
George growing into his boggly kitten eyes
Cuddly little Harry being a good boy for a picture

Little Roo (aka Izzie)
with her big ears pot belly and stubby legs.

Quiet Jenny often got lost in the crowd

With kittens growing Annie was of course becoming less interested in them and it was getting closer to the time that some of the group would be moving on in their quest to find a home.
Can understand why Annie would be glad about that news
(all 9 here with little Charlie missing out again)
And the departure of Freddy, George, Eddie and Jenny came.

In their carrier to stay at the shelter
I learned not long after returning and passing sales George was scooped up for adoption. Go George. My sister fell hard for him but wasn't in a position to buy him so we were all glad he found his own family so soon.

And really, who could resist that little face?

George - Can I haz cuddles?
