Someone Has The Wanders

I still haven't managed to come up with a group name for this lot.
Hank ~ Halp! I'm squished!
Fran ~ Enough fighting

It seems daily there is tiny changes. Whether that be in activity or appearance it depends on the kitten.
Simba/Kimba ~ ooOh I ate too much!
(tiny tongue poking out)

I apologize for not updating as much but life has been hectic.

Vet day in itself was quite busy. Fran and her babies got a healthy check from the vet but I was still a bit concerned about Fran's lack of interest and their low weight gains. The day following the vet check Kimba only gained 1 gram in 24 hours. I wasn't happy.
Kimba is the one at the front that's face planted...

I was asked to help out at the shelter so while I was there I scooped up some kitten formula to top the kittens up a tad - only the ones not gaining six or more grams per day.

All eyes are wide open but they're still very quiet kittens.
Four pairs of peepers looking out at the world

Fran spends some time away from the kittens, she is very young and the vet seems to think that although she's doing 'alright' she's not as doting or maternal as mothers with kittens doing 'very well'. The kittens aren't skinny or dirty by any means though.
Hank ~ Kitten Pile! I'm King!
Simba ~ Oomph you're heavy

Over the past seeming 2 days the kittens ears are beginning to look more pointed. They're going to hit the adorable stage very soon.
Josie ~ What? Am I not cute now?

I have some concerns about one kitten....
Josie ~ Whatcha doin?

Josie is a wander-bug. She has now several times done the tour across the newspaper floor to the litter trays and back all on her own with a bit of peeping. She also clambers to the front of the cage peeping at me every time I go in.

Josie ~ Morning exercise, I'm gonna outdo my siblings

Of all the kittens she's the one that will 'hang out' without sooking (a low whimper) and crying (small wail).
Simba & Hank ~ Halp! A Strange Lady Has US!!!

I also have a strong feeling Josie will be climbing through wet food the sooner the better. Already on rare occasions she's sucked some off my finger and she's always patrolling the food bowls. I don't think their mother will be the one to teach them about wet food since the whole time she's been here Fran will nibble at the wet food one day then turn her nose up at it every time its offered. She does eat dry kitten food but she is dropping a bit of weight with this whole 'mother' business.
Josie ~ Just hangin' with Ma

Pretty sure I've seen the first signs of play in Josie. She's also using each foot individually to step forwards (belly still dragging) but she isn't swimming and she's way more out there than her siblings who seem to stay within the boundaries of their bed.
Josie ~ Will you be my friend?

Hopefully I'll be able to update more often this week. Its amazing watching them grow and develop.

  1. You do a wonderful, caring job looking after all the kittens you've fostered. We, as a family have a lovely time playing with them too and watching them grow. It's lovely seeing them change and sometimes sad to see them go back. Lovely memories of them all. Keep the room we're leasing you clean and we won't have a problem.lol
    love your landlord (mother) xx

  2. they look like they are doing very well! It is hard when you have a very doting mother to not measure every other mother afterwards to that level of care. I'm glad you were able to get some milk to 'top them off'
